Mind, body, and spirit are interconnected;
what affects one typically impacts the others.
BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities often face heightened levels of stress and trauma.

Psychotherapy should be culturally informed, considering the unique cultural differences and external factors that influence emotional well-being. These factors include family dynamics, community connections, social support, stressors, available resources, and systemic oppression. Additionally, we recognize spirituality's significant role in many individuals' healing and recovery processes. For this reason, Intertwined, LLC offers culturally responsive psychological care that blends psychological theories with spiritual support.

We specialize in treating depression and anxiety. We promote a holistic approach to recovery, encouraging clients to engage in activities that nurture their mind, body, and spirit. Our services encompass psychological care for individuals, as well as education and training on emotional well-being for clergy, lay leaders, and other caregivers. We provide our services through a secure virtual platform, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all clients. Trainings are available both in-person and online.

PARTNERSHIP

Our organization believes collaborating with religious institutions offers an excellent opportunity to connect mental health care with faith in churches. These partnerships foster essential discussions about emotional well-being and help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. We provide mental health talks, training sessions, consultations, and contracted services to support organizations and their members. For example, we contract with churches to provide brief counseling at a reduced rate for members facing financial challenges.

PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY

Many individuals encounter psychological distress as a result of significant life changes, such as medical conditions, divorce, the loss of a loved one, job loss, childbirth, new marriage, college transitions, relationship challenges, and workplace stress. Additionally, factors such as unprocessed trauma, depression, and anxiety can exacerbate this distress. Recognizing that no one should face these challenges in isolation is essential. Clients can expect attentive listening and continuous support as they address their concerns in private sessions.

We offer evidence-based psychological practices complemented by compassionate spiritual care to assist individuals seeking professional help, understanding, comfort, and healing. Our services include individual therapy for adults and adolescents. Family consultations are a necessary component for adolescents participating in individual therapy.

EMOTIONAL HEALTHCARE TRAINING FOR SPIRITUAL LEADERS

Many individuals struggling with mental health issues often seek support from spiritual leaders. These individuals frequently experience emotional pain and may feel trapped in harmful behaviors and relationship patterns that limit their lives. Mental health struggles are not a sign of weak faith or the result of sinful behavior. While prayer and spiritual guidance can provide some comfort, it is also essential for individuals to pursue professional mental health assistance. Licensed mental health professionals use evidence-based therapeutic techniques to alleviate emotional pain and help individuals break free from harmful behaviors and relationships. To enhance their support, spiritual leaders should receive training to recognize mental health needs, listen effectively, respond empathically, and make appropriate referrals as part of their pastoral practices. Investing in mental health training improves spiritual leaders' ability to offer holistic care. Additionally, mental health education will empower clergy to address these issues sensitively, avoiding the potential for shame and further traumatization while fostering a welcoming environment for all within their congregations.

EMOTIONAL HEALTHCARE TRAINING FOR RELIGIOUS CONGREGATIONS

Many people of faith believe that experiencing mental health distress is a sign of weak faith or sinful behavior. Others see these struggles as a test from Godmeant to strengthen their character. As a result,many individuals choose to remain silent about their mental health challenges. The stigma surrounding mental health issues leads people to suffer in silence, thinking these struggles are a private matter between themselves and God. Increasing awareness about mental health can encourage more individuals to seek treatment and alleviate the isolation felt by those who suffer in silence. Collaboration between faith leaders and mental health providers can foster community support for individuals facing mental health challenges. By breaking this silence, we can help congregants understand that mental health struggles do not indicate weak faith or wrongdoing.Educating congregants about mental health provides them with practical tools and resources for managing their conditions over the long term. A community approach promotes feelings of love and hope.
